I’m excited to learn this month that I’ve won two Gold awards in the 2018 AVA Digital Awards! The annual competition recognizes outstanding creative achievement in the design and production of digital media, and is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).
Creative professionals can submit work in categories related to websites, audio, video, and more digital communication mediums. All of the work I submitted this year (and last) are pieces I created for social media or digital marketing.
Judges assign each entry a score. Scores between 90-100 earn a Platinum award, 80-89 points get you a Gold award, and 70-79 points garner an honorable mention.
Below are my two entries that won.
“THE ART OF ADVERTISING: CALL FOR ENTRIES”
Category 2C – Digital Marketing Campaign
This year, I took on designing and executing all of the communications for AAF Amarillo’s local tier of the American Advertising Awards (a.k.a. the “ADDYs”).
“The Art of Advertising” is our theme. Promotions for the event are divided into three mini campaigns: Save the Date, Call for Entries, and Award Show. The winning work is from the Call for Entries wave encouraging AAF Amarillo members to enter their local advertising competition. Elements included branded social media cover & profile photos, multiple social graphics, email blasts, Intstagram stories, and more.

“RED NOSE DAY” SNAPCHAT GEOFILTER
Category 69 – Social Media Creativity
To thank Walgreens for its continual support of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy, we created a co-branded Snapchat geofilter to promote its Red Nose Day initiative. The graphic overlay features a circular red nose (the same as in the Red Nose Day logo) that anyone present at the TTUHSC-Amarillo campus on May 25 could apply to “selfies” to show support. The geofilter was popular among employees, students, and patients alike.

(Yes, I know I’m a huge nerd.)
